Incense & Mirrors is (slowly) moving, migrating, as they say, to Indie Theology's "Incense & Mirrors" section.
Subscribe to Indie Theology!
Dear Incense & Mirrors readers:
I will be gradually working commentary and essays about the contemporary Catholic Church and other Catholic issues on my main religion account, Indie Theology, under a sub-category called Incense & Mirrors. I’ll be positing on both, more regularly on Indie Theology, my main account, which has been in existence for a long time. I am doing this as a way to simplify my administrative labor. I expect that in short time I will be phasing out the original Incense & Mirrors account entirely and putting all of my Catholic content on Indie Theology.
It’s an exciting time to be Catholic, so if you are interested in following my analysis as I track developments in the/our Catholic Church, I suggest that you subscribe to Indie Theology.
I plan to import the subscriber list from Incense & Mirrors to Indie Theology. The Substack framework does not allow for using two subscriber lists, so if you only want Catholic content, you will get general (vs. exclusively Catholic-related) Indie Theology emails now and then. If this is a nuisance, please unsubscribe.
I have been promising to take up a study of the McCarrick Report for many months now, and still plan to deliver. These posts are likely to be well-timed, quite by accident, to coincide well with the avalanche of (a few thousand) clergy sex abuse cases that are about to make the news throughout the summer months.
Some of my (McCarrick Report and other) content will be offered behind a paywall, because writing and research are work! If you hold a paid subscription to one of my Substack accounts, you are welcome to have paid subscriptions for both of my platforms. (I have a platform for other writing, poems, book reviews and reflections, essays and commentary on education: Michele Madigan Somerville. Go ahead and sign up now, if you’re interested? However, I’m still working on getting that site fully operational.)
I don’t want anyone who is fervently interested in these topics to be shut out. If you are a clergy sex crime/abuse survivor and are comfortable letting me know that, I would like you to read for free.
Thanks for your patience and understanding.
Pax nobiscum.
Michele Somerville
